Role Description

Process Safety Engineering (PSE) is a specialized engineering field focused on preventing large-scale fires, explosions, and toxic releases in facilities handling hazardous materials (like oil & gas, chemical plants) by managing operational risks through hazard identification, risk assessment, and implementing robust safeguards, ensuring the integrity of systems and protecting people, environment, and assets. It involves analyzing system failures, designing inherently safer processes, managing equipment integrity, and ensuring regulatory compliance to prevent catastrophic incidents.  

Core Focus Areas

• Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment:

   Using methods like PHA (Process Hazard Analysis) to find potential dangers and evaluate accident likelihood/consequences. 

• Safeguard Implementation:

   Designing and installing safety layers (e.g., relief systems, alarms, interlocks) to prevent or mitigate incidents. 

• Mechanical Integrity

  :

   Ensuring equipment (vessels, piping) remains reliable through inspection, testing, and maintenance. 

• Management of Change

  (MOC):

   Controlling risks from changes in process, equipment, or procedures. 

• Operational Discipline

  :

   Promoting adherence to procedures and safe work practices. 

Key Activities

• Developing safety protocols and operating procedures.
• Conducting Process Hazard Reviews (PHRs) and safety audits.
• Designing safety-instrumented functions (SIFs) and relief systems.
• Analyzing material and energy balances for safety. 

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering
• PDIS/ HAZOP/GAP ASSESSMENT
• Minimum 3 Years of experience in Process safety
