Principal Engineer

A Principal Engineer (PE) is a senior-level role in engineering, characterized by high-level technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking. PE will guide engineering teams, set technical direction, and contribute to the overall organizational goals. PE will focus on long-term technical strategies and innovation. PE will own the architecture and design of multiple applications at org level.

This role will excel in leadership of our evolving technology stack, which currently includes JavaScript, GraphQL, Jest, Kafka, MERN (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js),NestJS, Redis, SQL, and TypeScript, and demonstrate proficient skills in test-driven development, RESTful APIs, collaboration, communication, security best practices, and performance optimization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar relevant field
• 10+ years of experience in a development role OR combination of education and experience in front end, middleware, or backend development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, ensuring high-quality solutions and adherence to best practices.
• Contribute to the overall technical strategy and direction of the organization, often influencing product development and long-term goals.
• Help grow the development practice via coding, code reviewing, acting as a technical bridge on the team, as well as being able to dig into some of the more complex areas of the system when knowledge is lacking in house.
• Drive innovation, identify and solve complex technical challenges, and develop creative solutions
• Work closely with other engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication.
• Maintain knowledge of security best practices in web development to safeguard customer and company data.
• Scour and evaluate new technologies and contribute to the overall product roadmaps of both internal and external 3rd party systems.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering their technical growth and career advancement.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
