Political Communications Specialist

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Political Communications Specialist who is fluent in English and Kannada and has a deep understanding of the political landscape at the grassroots level. This role requires someone who is highly networked, politically aware, and able to provide insights from the ground. You will be responsible for analyzing media narratives, building and maintaining relationships with journalists and officials, and supporting the communication strategy for high-impact political campaigns. This is a high-stakes, high-pressure role with irregular work hours, requiring absolute commitment and adaptability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Political Insights & Research

o Gather regular ground-level political insights and community sentiment.

o Track emerging political narratives, public perception, and issue-based trends.

o Provide actionable intelligence to guide communication strategies.

• Media Monitoring & Analysis

o Conduct regular media scans (print, digital, TV, and social).

o Analyze coverage, identify risks, and prepare timely media reports.

o Advise on counter-narratives and opportunities to shape public discourse.

• Community & Media Engagement

o Maintain strong connections with community leaders, journalists, and officials.

o Facilitate outreach and engagements with media and stakeholders.

o Support in crisis communication and rapid response situations.

• Strategic Communications Support

o Assist in drafting press releases, speeches, and messaging frameworks.

o Work closely with campaign teams to align ground realities with communication goals.

o Ensure consistency and accuracy across all political communication channels.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

·        Fluency in English and Kannada (spoken and written).

·        Strong understanding of the political ecosystem in Karnataka.

·        Well-connected within local communities, journalists, and political circles.

·        Proven experience in political communication, media analysis, or grassroots campaigns.

·        Ability to synthesize complex political developments into actionable insights.

·        Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust quickly.

·        Comfort working in high-pressure environments with unpredictable schedules.

·        Strong research, writing, and presentation skills.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Educational Background

o Master’s degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field.

• Language & Communication

o Native or near-native proficiency in Kannada and strong command of

English (spoken and written).

o Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and impactful messaging for diverse audiences.

• Technical Proficiency

o Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace (G-Suite).

o Ability to prepare professional reports, presentations, and media briefs with attention to detail.
