Job Description

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for preparing, monitoring, and updating project schedules, resources, and costs for road and bridge construction works in Jharkhand. The role ensures effective project planning, timely execution, and alignment with BOQ and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Scheduling & Planning
  • Prepare baseline schedules using Primavera P6 / MS Project.
  • Develop work breakdown structures (WBS) as per BOQ and contract scope.
  • Allocate manpower, machinery, and material requirements for each activity.
  • Monitoring & Control
  • Track project progress against baseline schedules.
  • Highlight delays, bottlenecks, and propose corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with site engineers, billing, and procurement teams to ensure timely resource availability.
  • Reporting
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
  • Provide MIS reports for management and client review meetings.
  • Track productivity of manpower & equipment.
  • Cost & Resource Management
  • Work closely with billing engineers to ensure timely client billing.
  • Monitor direct cost components (labour, materials, machinery, subcontractor costs).
  • Identify cost over-runs and suggest preventive actions.
  • Client & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Attend review meetings with clients, consultants, and senior management.
  • Support project coordinator in contractual compliance and extension of time (EOT) claims.
  • Documentation
  • Maintain updated project schedules, delay analysis, and records for claims/disputes.
  • Ensure proper documentation as per contract requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Education: B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering (Mandatory).

Experience:

    • 4–7 years of experience in road and bridge projects.
    • Minimum 2 years in a planning role.

Software Skills:

  • Primavera P6 (preferred), MS Project, AutoCAD, MS Excel (advanced).

Knowledge:

  • NHAI/MoRTH specifications, road/bridge construction sequence, BOQ understanding.

Language Skills: Hindi and English (must), knowledge of local Jharkhand dialect is an added advantage.

Key Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good coordination and communication ability.
  • Time management and deadline-driven approach.
  • Knowledge of direct/indirect costs in construction.
  • Ability to work in challenging site conditions in Jharkhand.

Other Requirements

  • Must be willing to relocate to project sites in Jharkhand.
  • Should have knowledge of safety norms, and site management practices.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in road projects under NHAI/State PWD in Jharkhand/Bihar/Odisha region.
