About the Role InCommon is hiring on behalf of a US-based healthcare company that’s setting up operations in India. We’re looking for a founding People & Culture leader to help build the team from the ground up — owning everything from hiring and onboarding to engagement, culture, and operations. You’ll work closely with leadership in both India and the US to create the systems and rhythms that support a healthy, high-performing, and human-centered workplace. This is a hands-on, strategy-meets-execution role — expect to move between designing org structures, handling employee conversations, rolling out policy, and ordering lunch for the team if that’s what’s needed. What You’ll Own Lead end-to-end hiring for the India team, balancing speed with mission-aligned quality Set up HR infrastructure — onboarding, compliance, compensation, policies — from scratch Shape team culture and people systems as the org scales Coach first-time managers and support individual development across the team Be a trusted partner in employee relations: de-escalate, mediate, and maintain trust Build scalable frameworks for org design, leveling, and performance management Design internal communication, team rituals, and culture-building practices Help navigate change and complexity with transparency and care What We’re Looking For 7–10+ years in People/HR roles, with leadership experience in fast-paced or early-stage orgs Experience setting up HR/People ops in India, with strong understanding of local labor law Proven ability to scale systems, support managers, and build culture in a distributed team Skilled in managing sensitive issues and maintaining psychological safety across teams Comfortable working across time zones with US-based or global colleagues Experience in recruiting, onboarding, and running smooth HR operations from scratch Bonus: Background in tech/startups or mission-driven orgs; consulting experience is a plus What Success Looks Like India team is hired, onboarded, and set up to thrive Managers are supported and growing in their roles Conflict is handled with clarity and care HR systems are simple, effective, and human-centered People feel connected to the mission and supported at work Why This Role Matters You’ll shape how a global health company builds its team and culture in India You’ll have a direct hand in making work feel better — for everyone You’ll join a sharp, thoughtful, mission-driven team that cares about doing things right Show more Show less
