Job Summary

The Obsolescence Management Engineer is responsible for proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with component end-of-life and technological obsolescence within products and systems. The role ensures lifecycle continuity, reliability, and compliance by analysing potential risks, coordinating change activities, and supporting qualification processes across cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate all activities related to obsolescence management.
  • Verify export control relevance and any applicable regulatory restrictions.
  • Review and document assemblies/components impacted by design or scope changes.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to support qualification and validation activities.
  • Identify if similar change actions are already active within the system.
  • Manage change documentation using tools such as the OM Tool, Windchill, and SAP.
  • Collect, analyse, and pre-evaluate obsolescence-related data.
  • Document safeguarding measures, prepare release documentation, and support definition of corrective actions.
  • Prepare technical reports for series release documentation and approvals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of experience in the component qualification process.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP, Creo, Windchill, and MS Office.
  • Good understanding of engine components and their functions.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, machining, die & pattern, sheet metal, and piping.
  • Experience in the qualification and testing processes for diesel engine components.
  • Understanding of field issues related to obsolescence management.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
