One of the major functional group of this entity is LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology).The LIGHT group, designs subassemblies and subsystems for Lam’s product lines, providing innovation for the next-generation products, providing improvements in cost and reliabilityThere is an opening for the role of Mechanical Engineer 2 within the Customer Support Business Group (CSBG)of LIGHT organization. This position will be based out of Bangalore and will closely be working with the Engineering& Cross functional teams across global regions of Lam Research like US & Asia.CSBG mainly focuses on delivering value to customers throughout the product lifecycle by providing Spares,Upgrades, and services to maximize the value of customer capital assets
Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for performing design and development of mechanical components and assembliesHands on experience to take design from concepts thru detailed drawing, parts procurement, DFM interaction withsuppliers, assembly, test, build verification with deeper understanding of issues faced, lessons learned and closure.Create electromechanical layouts, packaging, fixtures, tooling, and mechanisms. Works with technologydevelopment, product engineering, suppliers, manufacturing and quality group to define specifications and completethe full design cycle. Creates documentation and conducts design reviews in support of design effortsCollaborates with designers/drafters to generate medium complexity design documentationResponsible for doing basic mechanical engineering design calculations involving Structural & Thermal analysisValidates designs through prototype/computational modeling to support engineering decisionsProvides resolution to medium complex problemsConducts guided brainstorming sessions and publishes clear notesActive participation in idea generation for product needs
Mandatory Skills And Experience
Proficient in concept design and development of medium complex mechanical components/simple sub-systemAptitude to solve mechanical engineering problems using prototype/testing/computational modeling toolsAbility to perform critical review & gain approval of medium complex design models/documentationExcellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present design concepts to peers and management in aprofessional and effective wayMust be an expert in 3D CAD tools in part Modelling, Detailing and Assembly preferably using Siemens NXApply basic GD&T and Perform Tolerance Stack up analysisPrepare cost estimates on parts & assemblies adopting DFx methodologiesProficient in translating design requirements into parameters for OEM component selectionAbility to work well in a team, in a fast-paced environment with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities whileremaining a team player.Good knowledge on basic fabrication techniques - machining, sheet-metal panels and enclosures, welding andsimilar.Exposure to different materials, coating and finishing processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of experience; or Masters in Mechanical Engineering with 2 to 4 Yrs Exp.
- Proficient in 3D CAD tools such as CREO, Siemens NX, ProE, SolidWorks, and others.
- Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.
- This is a graduate eligible role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
- Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.
- Experience in project management, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.
- Knowledge in Engineering Change Management Process, SAP, PLM
- Exposure to obsolescence management in product engineering – understanding of how to handle an Obsolescence part / sub-assembly in a mature product and how to qualify a replacement part.
- Exposure to any of FEA software (Nastran, Ansys, Mechanica) to conduct basic analysis

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
