Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with in-depth expertise in fluid mechanics and microdispensing systems. The role centres on the design, simulation, and fabrication of custom, high-precision multichannel fluidic systems. This is a hardware-first role for someone who thrives in fast-paced, engineering-driven environments.

Role Description

• Design and model complex multichannel fluidic systems and printhead assemblies.
• Perform advanced CFD simulations (ANSYS) to optimize fluid flow, droplet formation, and minimize cross-contamination.
• Select materials, seals, and components for compatibility with complex fluids.
• Oversee high-precision fabrication, hands-on assembly, and rigorous testing of prototypes.
• Characterize system performance for reliability, repeatability, and throughput.
• Collaborate with the electronics and software teams for seamless system integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing, building, and testing microfluidic systems, precision dispensers, or printheads.
• Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and CFD (ANSYS Fluent/CFX).
• Strong knowledge of fabrication methods (precision machining, micro milling) and design for manufacturability.
• Deep understanding of fluid dynamics, particularly with non-Newtonian fluids.
• Comfortable with mechanical troubleshooting, iteration, and validation in a lab setting.
