Manager/Assistant Manager- Commercial

 

Level: Senior

 

Summary:

This senior-level role plays a crucial part in optimizing the company's overall spending across all categories, including freight payments, capital expenditures (CAPEX), and operational expenses (OPEX). The position requires a strong focus on cost control and continuous improvement through strategic negotiations, procurement support, and financial controllership.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management:

  • Implement and oversee strategies to minimize costs across freight, CAPEX, and OPEX.
  • Conduct in-depth cost analyses and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost control.

 

  • Negotiations:

  • Lead negotiations with vendors to secure the best possible pricing and terms for goods and services.
  • Develop and implement negotiation strategies to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors to foster mutually beneficial partnerships.

 

  • Procurement Support:

  • Oversee the procurement process to ensure efficiency and compliance with company policies.
  • Manage and develop relationships with key suppliers.
  • Identify and implement new and innovative procurement solutions.

 

  • Financial Controllership:

  • Manage and maintain accurate financial records for assigned cost and profit centers.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports and forecasts.
  • Support the development and implementation of financial budgets.

 

  • Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable processes.
  • Conduct vendor due diligence and risk assessments.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and best practices in commercial operations.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Education:

  • Qualified or semi-qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred.
  • Masters or Graduation in Business Administration, Finance, or related field with relevant work experience considered.
  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a commercial operations role with a focus on cost control and negotiation.
  • Prior experience in managing cost and profit centres.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and best practices.
  • Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Desired:

  • Experience in a similar role within a fast-paced environment.
  • CA/Inter CA looking to transition from traditional work to a controllership role.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements.
