Manager

Job Purpose:

The Manager – Mechanical Maintenanceis responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operationof mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systemsacross forging presses, Electro Slag Remelting (ESR) furnace, heat treatment furnaces, machining equipment and plant utilities through effective maintenance, troubleshootingand process optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Electro Slag Remelting (ESR) Furnace

• Maintain mechanical, hydraulicand pneumatic systems of ESR furnaces to ensure consistent operational reliability.

• Monitor and service cooling systems, hydraulic drive units and electrode movement mechanisms.

• Coordinate with OEMs for upgrades, modifications, and automation improvements.

• Troubleshoot furnace mechanical failures and implement corrective actions with minimum downtime.

• Open Die Forging Press

• Ensure smooth functioning of 5000-ton forging press, manipulators and related auxiliary systems.

• Conduct preventive maintenance and periodic overhauls of press frames, cylinders, hydraulic pumps and control valves.

• Diagnose press performance issues using hydraulic circuit analysis and pressure/flow monitoring.

• Collaborate with production to improve press up time and mechanical efficiency.

• Heat Treatment Furnaces

• Oversee mechanical maintenance of quenching tanks, furnace doors, agitators and heating mechanisms.

• Ensure proper functioning of hydraulic/pneumatic actuators and lifting/lowering systems.

• Monitor thermal insulation wear, door sealing, and cooling system health.

• Perform routine inspection of mechanical safety interlocks and emergency systems.

• Machining Equipment

• Maintain band saw, CNC lath, VTL, planomiller, shaper, boring and other heavy-duty machining equipment with focus on mechanical precision and uptime.

• Troubleshoot cutting, spindle issues, feed mechanisms, lubrication systems, and alignment problems.

• Coordinate scheduled service and calibration with internal teams and machine manufacturers.

• Ensure proper functioning of chip conveyors, coolant systems and guarding mechanisms.

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance of central hydraulic systems, air compressors, cooling towers and pumps to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.

• Monitor key parameters such as pressure, flow rate, temperature and fluid quality to maintain system integrity and operational efficiency across all utility systems.

• Conduct regular inspection, maintenance and load testing of EOT Cranes, ensuring safe and efficient material handling in production areas.

6. Documentation

• Maintain maintenance log book/sheet,QMS documents, service recordsand support to internal, external & customers audits.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education:B.Tech./Diploma in MechanicalEngineering

• Experience: Minimum 8 years for B.Tech. candidates and minimum 15 years for Diploma candidates.

• Proven experience in mechanical maintenance and commissioning of Open Die Forging Press(> 2000 Ton capacity) and Heat Treatment Furnace (> 10 ton capacity)

• Hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systemsused forging presses, heat treatment equipment, machining systemsand plant utilities.

• Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems of ESR furnace.

• Proficient in hydraulic circuit analysis and fault diagnosis.

• Strong knowledge of ESR furnace mechanical and hydraulic systems.

• Skilled in maintenance of high-capacity forging presses and manipulators.

• Experience with heat treatment furnace mechanical systems and safety interlocks.

• Utility system maintenance including compressors, pumps, cooling towers, and hydraulic power packs.

• EOT crane inspection, maintenanceand load testing.

• Preventive maintenance planning and execution.

• Compliance with industrial safety and environmental standards.

• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
