Linux Server Administrator

Job summary

The Server Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's cloud and on-premise server infrastructure, with a primary focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role ensures the stability, security, and optimal performance of all cloud-based systems. Key responsibilities include deploying and managing servers and applications, configuring and overseeing firewall and security policies, and optimizing cloud resource usage.

Key responsibilities

• Cloud infrastructure management
• Deploy, configure, and manage scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on the AWS platform.
• Manage core AWS services, including Amazon EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
• Oversee day-to-day cloud operations, such as resource provisioning, monitoring performance, and performing maintenance.
• Design, implement, and maintain continuous delivery (CI/CD) systems and methodologies for server-based technologies.
• Plan and execute application and database migrations to and within AWS.

Network and security administration

• Implement and manage firewall rules and security policies across all AWS accounts and applications using AWS Firewall Manager.
• Configure and troubleshoot VPCs, security groups, and network access control lists (ACLs) to enforce network security.
• Protect against threats by configuring security measures, including AWS WAF, AWS Shield Advanced, and Route 53 Resolver DNS Firewall.
• Monitor system and network traffic logs for security threats and usability concerns.
• Ensure all cloud and server environments meet strict security compliance requirements and best practices.

Deployment and automation

• Automate operational tasks using scripting languages like Python or Bash.
• Utilize infrastructure-as-code tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform to automate server deployments.
• Manage a continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipeline for server-based technologies.
• Implement strategies for auto-scaling and elasticity to ensure high availability and responsiveness.

Monitoring, troubleshooting, and support

• Monitor the health, performance, and resource utilization of AWS resources using Amazon CloudWatch and other monitoring tools.
• Diagnose and resolve cloud infrastructure and server-related issues promptly.
• Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues, escalating as needed.
• Manage data backup and implement disaster recovery plans.

Required skills and qualificationsTechnical skills

• AWS Services: Strong, hands-on experience with core AWS services, including EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Networking: In-depth knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, and routing.
• Security: Experience with AWS security services (WAF, Shield, Firewall Manager) and security best practices.
• Operating Systems: Administration experience with Linux (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu) and/or Windows Server.
• Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation.
• Automation Tools: Experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
• Deployment: Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
