Position Overview
The Legal Consultant will be an individual contributor responsible for the legal vetting of contracts, Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), and employment-related documents in compliance with Indian laws and international regulations. This role is essential in ensuring that all legal agreements protect the organization's interests and adhere to the organization's policies, applicable laws across various jurisdictions, particularly in a dynamic startup environment operating globally.
Shift Timing: Night Shift (US EST Hours) (Work from Gurgaon office)
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Vendor Contracts Vetting: Review, analyze, and negotiate contracts to ensure compliance with Indian legal standards as well as international laws, ensuring clarity of terms and risk mitigation and adhering to the organization's policies.NDA Review: Assess Non-Disclosure Agreements to protect sensitive information, ensuring confidentiality obligations are well-defined and enforceable under applicable jurisdictions.Employment Matters: Provide legal counsel on employment contracts, ensuring adherence to Indian labor laws and international employment regulations, including those related to termination, benefits, and employee rights.Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research to stay updated on changes in laws affecting contracts and employment practices both in India and globally.Client Advisory: Offer expert legal advice to internal stakeholders regarding contractual obligations and employment-related issues across different jurisdictions.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all agreements comply with relevant Indian laws as well as international regulations, including the Companies Act, Contract Act, labor laws, and any applicable foreign laws.Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Sales and other departments to facilitate contract negotiations and resolve any legal concerns that may arise in a global context.Ownership of Legal Processes: Take full ownership of the legal documents vetting process within the defined SLAs, ensuring timely reviews and proactive identification of potential legal risks. This includes developing templates for contracts and NDAs that align with business needs while safeguarding legal interests.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent degree from a recognized institution; additional qualifications such as a Master of Laws (LLM) are preferred.Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of experience in a legal advisory role focusing on contract law and employment matters within India and international contexts.Optional Licensing: Must be registered with the Bar Council of India and possess a valid license to practice law.
