Description
We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced
Learning Experience Designer (LxD)
to join our remote team and lead the design of complex, technical training solutions. You’ll design immersive XR/VR experiences, eLearning modules, technical training programs, and instructional video content across a variety of regulated and high-stakes industries. You’ll work with a team of eLearning, immersive experience and multimedia developers to bring to life what you design, providing training solutions to a variety of clients.We need someone who thinks like a systems architect, imagines effective UX details, designs with precision and clarity, and deeply understands how adults, consume, learn and retain information.
Key Responsibilities
Designing complete learning solutions across multiple formats:XR and VR immersive training (Unity-based, developer-supported)Interactive technical eLearning modules (built in tools like Storyline)Asynchronous learning contentStrategically structured training curricula and content suitesInstructional video-based content and animations sequencesContent spanning both micro-learning and deep-dive, long-form modules
Creating Detailed, Developer-ready Documentation
Storyboards for eLearning modules, immersive experiences, and training videosInteraction specs for Unity XR/VR developersVideo shot listsCurriculum mapsSupporting materials (e.g. job aids, process diagrams)
Driving All Aspects Of Instructional Design
Strategic learning planning (goal alignment, needs analysis, etc.)Visual and interaction design from a learner-first perspectiveUI/UX considerations for training interfaces and flowAccessibility alignment and inclusive design principles
Applying Proven Learning Frameworks
ADDIE, Kirkpatrick, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and related modelsAdult learning and behavior change theoryCognitive load, chunking, and reinforcement strategies
Collaborating Cross-functionally
Work closely with Unity and eLearning developers, LMS adminsPartner with multimedia designers for graphics, video, animations, and 3D modelsProvide ID mentorship to teammates in support of skill sharing
Requirements
- 6+ years in instructional design, learning experience design, knowledge content creation, or equivalent
- Deep experience designing technical, procedural, and regulatory/compliance training (e.g. manufacturing, operations, software training, industrial safety, patient care, etc.)
- Fluency in adult learning theory, instructional design models, and UX principles
- Ability to provide detailed and descriptive design specs for development
- Strong experience creating dev-ready storyboards and video shot lists
- Proficiency with eLearning authoring tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Vyond) and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, problem solving, and collaboration skills
- Exceptional attention to detail, learner empathy, continuity, and design foresight
