A Junior Project Engineer assists in the planning, design, and execution of projects, supporting senior engineers and contributing to project success. They may focus on tasks like data collection, analysis, documentation, and schedule development, while also learning about project management workflows. Key responsibilities of a Junior Project Engineer might include: Supporting project planning and design: Assisting with project scope definition, objective setting, and developing plans, schedules, and budgets. Technical support and documentation: Providing technical support for design, engineering, and documentation, including reviewing designs for accuracy and compliance. Coordination and communication: Coordinating with cross-functional teams, vendors, and subcontractors. Data analysis and reporting: Collecting, analyzing, and reporting project progress, identifying risks, and developing mitigation strategies. Quality assurance and control: Assisting with quality assurance activities, conducting inspections and tests, and ensuring compliance with requirements. Compliance and safety: Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and conducting safety inspections and risk assessments. Learning and development: Learning from senior engineers and gaining experience in project management best practices. In a broader sense, Junior Project Engineers often: Assist in developing project schedules and timelines: Many Junior Engineers develop project schedules and deliverable timelines, and prepare progress reports to share with the project team. Work on site: They may visit sites to take measurements, answer contractor questions, and serve as liaisons between engineering and construction personnel. Support the overall project lifecycle: They may contribute to various phases of the project, from planning and design to execution and completion.
