Position Summary...As part of the Replenishment & Forecasting team @Walmart, you’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the smartest engineers/architects/data scientist and will have the opportunity to solve one of the most critical problems for WalmartWe are looking for passionate Data Engineers to join our team & help us in building our next generation Replenishment & Forecasting Platform for Walmart. We drive $200B+ inventory replenishments annually. Improved forecast will help drive down the inventory days of supply and reduce waste for perishable grocery – savings measured in billions of dollars – while improving our in stocks. Effectively predicting demand involves learning from past sales and modelling the effects price, promotions, store placements, local events, weather etc. Replenishment ensures we have the effective distribution of the demand to the final destinations (Stores, DCs, etc.)Doing this a Walmart scale – over 500 M store item combinations - makes it one of the largest and most challenging problems of its kind in the world while also being the most impactful. What you'll do:
- Write efficient and quality code that can work @ Walmart scale
- Adopt Walmart’s quality standards and develop and recommend process standards and best practices across the retail industry
- Research, learn & adapt new technologies to solve problems & improve existing solutions
- Contribute to engineering excellence backlog.
- Identify performance issues.
- Effective code and design reviews.
- Improve reliability of overall production system by proactively identifying patterns of failure.
- Leading and mentoring junior engineers by example.
- End-to-end ownership of stories (including design, serviceability, performance, failure handling)
- Strive hard to provide the best experience to anyone using our products.
- Conceptualize innovative and elegant solutions to solve challenging big data problems.
- Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome products.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity..
What you'll bring:
- Deep understanding in Big Data Ecosystem - Hadoop and Spark.
- Must have project experience with Spark.
- Expert coding skills in Java.
- Expert skills in SQL
- Ability to independently troubleshoot Spark jobs.
- Good understanding of distributed systems.
- Expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud)
- Working knowledge in container and cloud native technologies – Kubernetes, Docker, other
- Prior experience developing or working with CI/CD & Jenkins
- Experience with Data Lake, BigQuery and Hudi.
- Experience in Airflow and Python
