Experienced IBM Cognos Analytics Trainer (For MBA Students)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic IBM Cognos Analytics Trainer to design and deliver high-impact training programs for MBA students. The trainer will bridge the gap between business strategy and data analytics by teaching how to leverage IBM Cognos Analytics for data-driven decision-making, business intelligence (BI), and performance management.

This role requires both technical expertise in Cognos and the ability to relate analytics concepts to real-world business applications in marketing, finance, operations, and strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and deliver comprehensive training modules on IBM Cognos Analytics tailored for MBA students.

· Teach students how to use Cognos for business reporting, dashboards, and analytics-based decision-making.

· Design hands-on projects, case studies, and simulations using business datasets (finance, sales, marketing, supply chain, etc.).

· Explain how data visualization and BI insights support business strategy and operations.

· Guide students in interpreting data, building KPIs, and creating executive dashboards.

· Create and update training content, exercises, and assessments aligned with current business and analytics trends.

· Provide mentorship to students on applying analytics in management consulting, corporate strategy, and data-driven roles.

· Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.

· Stay updated with the latest features of IBM Cognos Analytics and integrate them into the curriculum.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field.

· 5+ years of experience in IBM Cognos Analytics (reporting, dashboarding, data modeling, or BI implementation).

· Strong background in business analytics with the ability to connect data insights to business outcomes.

· Proven experience as a trainer, lecturer, or corporate instructor in business analytics or BI tools.

· Solid knowledge of:

o Cognos Report Studio, Dashboarding, and Data Modules

o Data modeling and Framework Manager

o SQL and relational databases

o Data visualization best practices

· Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills — comfortable teaching non-technical MBA audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

· IBM Certified Professional in Cognos Analytics (Author, Developer, or Administrator).

· Prior experience teaching or training MBA or executive education programs.

· Knowledge of other BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) for comparative analysis.

· Understanding of data storytelling, business KPIs, and decision science.

· Experience with Python or Excel for analytics is a plus.
