HVAC Technician

Job Title: Data Center HVAC Operation and Maintenance Engineer / Technician Job Summary: Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HVAC systems and equipment in a Data Center environment. This includes ensuring uptime, safety, and efficiency of power infrastructure through preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities. The role involves rotational shift duties to provide 24/7 support. Key Responsibilities: Operation & Monitoring Monitor and operate entire systems: Chiller, PAHU, CPM, VFD, ceiling suspended unit, Cassette AC. Conduct routine rounds of HVAC equipment (as per shift schedule) to ensure smooth functioning. Monitor BMS (Building Management System) for alarms, power quality, and environmental parameters. Maintain logs of load readings, energy consumption, and equipment health parameters. Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform preventive maintenance (PM) as per OEM and internal schedules. Execute corrective maintenance (CM) during faults or failures. Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) of breakdowns and propose corrective measures. Ensure quick restoration of power in case of an outage, following escalation protocols. Compliance & Safety: Adhere to electrical safety protocols, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), and PPE requirements. Follow TIA-942 / Uptime Institute / local electrical codes and organizational SOPs. Conduct safety checks on fire protection systems (VESDA, fire alarms, extinguishers related to electrical rooms). Maintain documentation of permits, inspection checklists, and incident reports. Coordination & Reporting: Coordinate with facility, HVAC, and IT teams for integrated operations. Escalate major issues to senior engineers or management as per hierarchy. Maintain shift handover notes with detailed status of equipment, works in progress, and pending issues. Job Requirements: Qualification: Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Experience: minimum 3 years in Mechanical / Electrical maintenance, preferably in Data Center / critical infrastructure. Technical Knowledge: HVAC Switchgear and protection systems. Energy monitoring and BMS systems. Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills under pressure. Knowledge of preventive & predictive maintenance practices. Good communication and documentation skills. Shift Duty Pattern: 24/7 rotational shifts (Day / Evening / Night). Typical schedule: 3 shifts × 8 hrs. Must be available for emergency call-ins during critical incidents. Performance Indicators (KPIs): Timely completion of PM schedules. Quick restoration during faults within SLA. Accurate reporting and documentation. Compliance with safety standards and zero accidents.
