Job Summary

The Highway Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and supervising highway and road construction activities at the project site. This role ensures that all works are carried out as per drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities1. Site Execution

  • Supervise and monitor day-to-day road construction activities.
  • Ensure work is carried out as per approved drawings, DPR, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate earthwork, subgrade, GSB, WMM, DBM, BC, drainage works, and structures.
  • Maintain proper levels, alignment, and compaction standards at every stage.

2. Survey & Levels

  • Verify survey data, setting out, and benchmarks provided by survey teams.
  • Check road levels, gradients, cross-sections, and alignment before execution.
  • Ensure all work follows the design geometry.

3. Quality Control

  • Ensure all materials meet project quality standards.
  • Check layer thickness, density results, and compaction parameters.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Engineer/lab for test reports (Proctor, Sieve Analysis, Core Cutting, Density Tests).
  • Rectify any deviations in quality or specifications immediately.

4. Planning & Progress Monitoring

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
  • Plan resources including manpower, machinery, and materials.
  • Monitor productivity of equipment like graders, pavers, rollers, JCBs, etc.
  • Identify delays and coordinate corrective actions with project management.

5. Coordination

  • Liaise with subcontractors, client engineers, and consultants.
  • Attend site meetings and provide updates on work progress.
  • Communicate technical issues and propose solutions.

6. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to all safety protocols on site.
  • Monitor safe working practices for machinery and manpower.
  • Report accidents and implement preventive measures.

7. Documentation

  • Maintain site records, DPRs, MB entries, checklists, and inspection reports.
  • Prepare BBS, joint inspection reports, and material reconciliation reports.
  • Support billing team with measurement sheets and supporting documents.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Diploma / B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
  • 2–10 years of experience in road/highway construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NHAI/MORTH specifications.
  • Proficiency in handling drawings, levels, and field execution.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to handle manpower and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with highway machinery operations.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Excel, and project management tools.
  • Understanding of quality control tests for roadworks.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹18,652.68 - ₹47,456.32 per month
