Head of SEO and Organic Growth

Role summary

• Own SEO end to end and lead the organic growth function with full accountability for outcomes
• Set strategy, build scalable execution systems, lead the team and agencies, and deliver measurable growth in qualified organic leads and pipeline

Key responsibilities

• Own the SEO strategy and annual roadmap aligned to business growth targets
• Lead Technical SEO including crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, structured data, and Core Web Vitals
• Lead Content SEO including topic strategy, keyword mapping, briefs, editorial standards, refresh plans, and content pruning
• Design and govern scalable page programs for large websites including templates, quality gates, and safe indexation
• Own authority growth including digital PR, partnerships, and link quality governance
• Build and manage the SEO operating system including weekly reporting, dashboards, forecasting, and prioritization
• Partner with content, design, and engineering to ship SEO improvements with clear acceptance criteria
• Hire, mentor, and manage team members and external partners with strong quality control and accountability

Experience and background required

• 10 plus years in SEO with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Proven experience scaling organic growth for a large website footprint including 1,000 plus pages or equivalent complexity
• Strong technical SEO capability and experience working with engineering teams on backlogs and releases
• Strong content SEO leadership including building editorial processes and performance driven content systems
• Demonstrated ability to build repeatable systems and scale execution with minimal dependency on senior leadership
• Track record of ethical SEO aligned to Google Search Essentials and spam policies

Skills and tools

• Strong working knowledge of Google Search Console and GA4 including reporting and troubleshooting
• Hands on experience with Ahrefs or Semrush
• Hands on experience with Screaming Frog or Sitebulb
• Strong analytical thinking and executive communication with a consistent weekly operating cadence

Success measures

• Sustained growth in non branded organic traffic and rankings for priority categories
• Increase in qualified organic leads and pipeline contribution
• Improved index coverage, crawl efficiency, and technical health
• A stable content engine with high quality output, refresh wins, and reduced content decay
• A mature SEO operating system that runs independently and reliably
