We are looking for a
Gemstone Manufacturing Manager
to lead end-to-end gemstone production, including cutting, polishing, grading, and calibration. The ideal candidate will improve yield, reduce rejection, enhance workflow efficiency, and ensure high-quality output aligned with business goals. This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset, deep gemstone expertise, and strong leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee complete gemstone production: cutting, polishing, grading, calibration, and quality control.
- Improve yield, recovery %, and minimize cut loss through process optimization.
- Drive system improvements, quality standards, and cost-efficient workflows.
- Ensure compliance with industry and VGL quality guidelines.
- Coordinate closely with buying, inventory, merchandising, and design teams.
- Maintain vendor relationships and negotiate effectively.
- Monitor production schedules, inventory levels, and maintain accurate records.
- Train and supervise production staff to improve skills and productivity.
- Identify and resolve production issues quickly to reduce downtime.
- Align manufacturing decisions with final retail profitability and market needs.
Required Expertise & Skills
- Strong knowledge of gemstone types, treatments, origins, and processing techniques.
- Expertise in grading, calibration, cut-loss, recovery %, and quality parameters.
- Leadership and team management ability with a problem-solving mindset.
- Understanding of production planning, cost optimization, and inventory management.
- Strong communication and decision-making skills.
- Experience in vendor markets (India/Thailand/Africa/China preferred).
