Role Description

Freelance OpenShift & GCP Platform Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and manage

  OpenShift clusters

  , including version upgrades, patching, scaling, and cluster lifecycle management.
• Deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications using the

  oc CLI

  , OpenShift Web Console, and Kubernetes-native tooling.
• Design and implement

  CI/CD pipelines

  integrating tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab for automated build, test, and deployment workflows.
• Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting using

  Prometheus, Grafana

  , and related tools to ensure reliability and performance across GCP and OpenShift environments.
• Troubleshoot platform and application issues, perform root cause analysis, and deliver timely resolutions.
• Implement

  security best practices

  , including RBAC, policies, network security, and compliance within Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Develop and maintain

  Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  using Terraform to automate provisioning and configuration of GCP resources.
• Collaborate with development, operations, architecture, and security teams to support application readiness and platform optimization.
• Create and maintain

  comprehensive documentation

  , runbooks, and configuration references.
• Manage lifecycle operations including control plane/worker node upgrades, certificate renewals, and platform maintenance.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in

  OpenShift cluster management

  , Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
• Proficiency with

  oc CLI

  , YAML manifests, Operators, Deployments, StatefulSets, Routes, and ConfigMaps.
• Experience building and supporting

  CI/CD pipelines

  (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, or similar).
• Expertise in

  monitoring/observability

  using Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, or similar tools.
• Solid knowledge of

  GCP cloud services

  , IAM, networking, load balancers, and cloud resource management.
• Strong proficiency in

  Terraform

  and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Experience troubleshooting complex platform-level issues and conducting root cause analysis.
• Understanding of security, RBAC, container security, and Kubernetes/OpenShift best practices.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
