Job Description

Position: Fire Fighting EngineerDepartment: MEP / Safety & Fire ProtectionLocation: [Project / Office Location]Reports To: Project Manager / Senior MEP EngineerJob Purpose

To design, supervise, install, and maintain fire protection systems in compliance with national and international fire safety codes, ensuring the safety of people, property, and assets at project sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Engineering
  • Prepare fire protection system designs including hydrants, sprinklers, hose reels, FM-200/Novec systems, and fire pumps.
  • Review and approve drawings, BOQs, and specifications as per NFPA, NBC, IS codes, and local fire authority requirements.
  • Coordinate with consultants, architects, and clients for design approvals.
  • Installation & Supervision
  • Supervise site installation of fire fighting systems ensuring compliance with design and safety standards.
  • Monitor contractor work quality and ensure timely project execution.
  • Verify equipment sizing, routing, and installation as per approved shop drawings.
  • Testing & Commissioning
  • Conduct hydrostatic, flow, and pressure tests on fire fighting systems.
  • Carry out pre-commissioning and commissioning activities of pumps, sprinklers, hydrants, and suppression systems.
  • Prepare test reports and handover documentation.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure systems comply with NFPA, NBC, IS, and local fire authority standards.
  • Assist in obtaining statutory approvals from fire departments.
  • Maintain safety protocols during site execution.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare daily/weekly progress reports.
  • Maintain as-built drawings and O&M manuals.
  • Provide technical support to project management teams.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3–7 years’ experience in fire protection system design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA, NBC, IS, and other fire safety codes.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and hydraulic calculation software (e.g., Elite, PipeNet).
  • Excellent problem-solving and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to lead teams and manage subcontractors.

Preferred Certifications

  • NFPA certification (CFPS / CFPE) – desirable.
  • Fire Department / Civil Defense approval – added advantage.
  • Health & Safety certifications (NEBOSH / IOSH) – preferred.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
