Job Summary

Sambodhi Research and Communications Private Limited is seeking a field operations expert to lead process monitoring field teams, oversee data collection, contribute to questionnaire development while also monitoring survey data collection.

Note: This role is associated with a project proposal, and hiring will be subject to the successful awarding of the project.


Essential Functions

The candidate will perform the following key functions:


Project Coordination and Field Management

  • Lead and supervise field survey teams, ensuring effective deployment, adherence to protocols, and high-quality data collection.
  • Coordinate field operations across multiple locations, including scheduling, logistics, and team assignments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for field staff, resolving operational issues and providing guidance on field implementation.
  • Monitor and track progress of field activities to ensure timely completion of data collection milestones.

Training and Capacity Building

  • Design and conduct training sessions for field enumerators and supervisors on survey protocols, data collection tools, and quality standards.
  • Conduct refresher sessions, pilot exercises, and debriefings to strengthen team performance and ensure consistency in field operations.
  • Provide mentorship and on-the-job support to field staff, building team capacity in survey administration and problem-solving.

Data collection oversight and quality assurance

  • Oversee the implementation of field surveys, ensuring compliance with study protocols, sampling strategies, and ethical standards.
  • Monitor real-time data collection, identify and resolve discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Conduct spot checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability of collected data.

Logistics and Resource Management

  • Plan and manage field resources, including personnel, transportation, materials, and equipment required for data collection.
  • Ensure proper documentation of field activities, field staff attendance, and survey-related operational reports.
  • Collaborate with team experts to optimize field schedules, minimize operational risks, and maintain cost efficiency.

Reporting and Coordination with Central teams

  • Provide regular updates and feedback to project management and seniors on field progress, challenges, and quality issues.
  • Support the integration of field data with key experts ensuring smooth transfer, validation, and initial cleaning of collected data.

Desired profile :

Education

Bachelor’s degree in development studies, or a related discipline.

Experience

At least 8-10 years of experience in large rural household survey data collection and qualitative studies. Should have experience in handling at least 2 large survey data collection efforts. Must have experience in rural collectives, livelihoods, value chains, or enterprise development.


Key Skills and Attributes

  • Professional fluency in oral and written English and Tamil is must.
  • Willing to travel across different geographies.
