Job Description: Executive Director, Ease of Doing Business
Department: Ease of Doing Business (EoDB)
Overall Purpose of the Job
To lead Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) agenda by driving policy advocacy, regulatory reforms, and implementation partnerships with central and state governments. The role involves shaping strategic inputs for improving India’s business climate, simplifying compliance processes, enhancing regulatory predictability, and fostering industry–government collaboration. The incumbent will also oversee the financial and operational management of the EoDB vertical and
guide the team in executing reform initiatives.
Job Specifications & Key Performance Indicators
Specific Key Areas /
Policy Formulation & Regulatory Reforms
Develop actionable recommendations for improving India’s EoDB ranking and business environment; draft submissions to central and state governments.
Government & Industry Interface
Engage with DPIIT, NITI, other relevant Ministries and also State governments to advocate
recommendations.
State-Level Reform Implementation
Partner with state governments to track reform progress and provide capacity-building support.
Member Consultations & Task Forces
Coordinate the work with task forces on EoDB and related areas.
Research, Surveys & Oversee EoDB content generation, member Reports surveys, and report ensure high-quality data analysis and actionable insights.
Team & Financial Management
Ensure efficient team operations and budget utilisation; mentor staff and align deliverables with organisational goals.
Strategic Thought Leadership
Position organization as a key knowledge partner on business reforms and competitiveness through papers, dialogues, and workshops.
Qualifications
-PhD or M.Phil in Economics, Public Policy, or related disciplines (preferred).
-23 years and above of experience in government (economic or regulatory ministries), multilateral institutions, industry associations, or research organisations working on business reforms or regulatory frameworks.

-Strong understanding of regulatory processes, institutional reforms, and business environment indicators.
-Proven policy advocacy and stakeholder management experience.
-Excellent analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
-Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multi-dimensional programmes.
-Strong communication skills.
-High degree of initiative, professionalism, and ability to work collaboratively across institutions.
-Ability to lead in a fast paced environment.
