The Assistant Manager – Equities Index Data plays a pivotal role in supporting global index data operations across multiple asset classes, predominantly Equity. This role ensures operational continuity, data integrity, and strategic alignment across global teams. The Assistant Manager will lead key initiatives, mentor team members, and contribute to product innovation, client engagement, and vendor management.
Responsibilities:
Supervising and mentoring a team in Bangalore to ensure consistent delivery and adherence to FTSE Russell standards.
The role supports the Manager in driving operational excellence, cross-regional collaboration, and performance tracking.
It involves leading daily operations related to index data validation, updates, and maintenance across global indices.
The Assistant Manager will oversee research and validation of core index attributes including Free Float, Voting Rights, NICB, and Country Classification.
They will ensure timely and accurate updates to index datasets during quarterly reviews, rebalances, and reconstitutions, and maintain SQL databases and reporting tools, incorporating corporate actions and market events.
The AM will collaborate on new index product development by identifying relevant data points, historical datasets, and designing scalable data pipelines.
The role supports automation initiatives using Power BI, Power Automate, and SQL to enhance data quality and reduce manual effort.
Contributions to AI-based research tools and workflow automation projects in partnership with internal tech teams are also expected.
The Assistant Manager will assist in vendor onboarding and evaluation, conducting due diligence on coverage, quality, SLAs, and alignment with FTSE Russell’s standards.
They will perform multi-vendor comparisons and feasibility testing to support strategic data sourcing decisions and liaise with internal stakeholders including Index Management, Policy, and Delivery teams to ensure smooth review cycles and data alignment.
Client-facing responsibilities include handling post-review client queries and providing clear, data-driven explanations for index decisions.
The role ensures compliance with global data governance and business continuity standards and supports enterprise risk and resilience initiatives in collaboration with the Manager.
Qualifications
8-10 years of experience in capital market or financial data management, preferably in index operations or asset management domains.
A strong understanding of equity markets, index construction, and corporate actions is essential.
Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and automation tools is required; experience with AWS or BAW is a plus.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, along with a proven ability to lead teams and drive cross-functional initiatives, are key to success in this role.
