Job Description The Disaster Recovery Associate plays a critical role within an organization, focused on developing and implementing strategies to ensure the continuity and recovery of IT systems and business operations during and after a disruption. Working closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, facilities management, and security personnel, the Disaster Recovery Associate is responsible for creating detailed recovery procedures and conducting regular drills to maintain organizational readiness. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a firm understanding of risk management and business continuity practices. The position is essential in safeguarding the organization’s assets, resources, and image by preparing for unforeseen events that could interrupt business functions. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive disaster recovery plans to address potential threats and disruptions. Collaborate with IT and business units to assess and mitigate risks effectively. Coordinate and execute regular disaster recovery testing and simulations. Analyze the results of drills to identify improvements and update plans accordingly. Maintain up-to-date documentation for disaster recovery policies and procedures. Work closely with external vendors to secure disaster recovery resources and services. Provide training and awareness sessions to staff on disaster recovery processes. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements in disaster recovery. Assist in the evaluation and selection of software and tools for recovery processes. Monitor the effectiveness of recovery plans and make necessary adjustments regularly. Communicate recovery procedures and status updates to stakeholders and management. Implement strategies to reduce downtime and optimize recovery time in crises. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years experience in disaster recovery or business continuity roles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Familiarity with risk assessment and management methodologies and tools. Excellent communication skills for interaction with technical and non-technical teams. Experience with conducting disaster recovery drills and post-mortem analysis. Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 22301 and disaster recovery best practices.
