Job Purpose
To ensure smooth operations of Chhattisgarh Mines Gare Palma IV/4 for achieving the production as per the approved mining plan and at the optimum cost with full capacity utilization of one million ton, following all statutory and safety norms. Liasioning with all the Government officials and different stake holders for ensuring timely approvals with respect to different compliances. Managing all the local issues of the mines for uninterrupted production, ensuring stipulated quality of coal and coal logistics. To Take actions for long-term sustainability of the Unit.
Job Context & Major Challenges
Job Context: Gare Palma – IV/4 Coal Mine is the eastern most Sub-Block in Gare area located in the Southeastern part of the Mand Raigarh Coalfield. Gare IV/4 Sub-block is connected by an all weathered road via Tamnar from the District headquarter; Raigarh located 55 KM southwest of the area. The Block is covered by hillock and forest making the approachability rather difficult. It is covered in Survey of India Top sheet No-64N/12.Lease Area of GP-IV/4 is 884.846 Hectare in Which Forest Land is 419.887 Ha & Non forest area is 464.959 Ha. Total Geological Reserve as per Mine Plan is 38.8465 million tons.Gare palma IV/4 coal Mine is a unique combination of open cut coal mine and underground coal mine spread in 03 geographically separate locations/sites with an approved production capacity of 1 MTPA.The mines has 02 open cut coal sites and 01 Underground mine having balance extractable reserves of 11.5 MT as per existing Mine plan and the mines has produced 0.702 MT in FY 2014-15 .the open Cut mining operations are largely outsourced for overburden removal & coal production through deployment of medium size excavators and 25 ton Hyva/Volvo as main Heavy Earth Moving Equipments with pumping and electrical operations remaining with the principal .the undergroundmining operations is a semi mechanized Board and pillar method that involves outsourcing of UG face operations through deployment of LHD & UDM/Hand held drills ,Blasting and Roof support activities having roof bolting with W strap system. .Remaining UG work of conveying coal evacuation through conveyor belt network ,Mine ventilation, Operation & Maintenance of Main sump pumping, Managing entire UG electrical systems which includes power supply to LHD machines ,UG Lighting ,Power supply to Pumps and misc. Electrical systems, Mines safety systems ,use of detection and measurement instruments for like convergence indicator, CO detection instruments, Methane& other gases measurement instruments, Operation and maintenance of Main Mechanical ventilator .The surface electrical involves power supply through CSEB power lines and 03 high capacity DG sets .the final product coal is conveyed to the coal stockyard in case of OC operations &through UG belt network to discharge bunkers in case of UG .coal is loaded into high capacity trucks and dispatched to End use plants at Hirakud,HIndalco and Aditya Alumininum,Hindalco.Job Challenges:
- Targeted overburden removal and coal production from open cut coal mine &Ensuring desired coal production from underground working in a multiseam working under hillock areas and difficult strata condition & Overburden dump Management as no external dumps are allowed
- Roof support management in UG working due to geologically disturbed strata
- Safety management systems in UG & OC for achieving ZFAC in the mine and achieving ZERO Accident potential aligning with difficult geo mining condition
- Desired coal quality from Patch B &Patch C as land is a major concern
- Power supply challenges as CSEB contracted demand is less than requirements
- Rehabilitation & Resettlements of Hutments in Banjikhol Village & few hutments in Bankheta area
- Logistics and coal evacuation challenges as the operations are in rural area with limited infrastructure.
- Adherence to requirements of Mine plan, Mine closure plan, Forest clearance conditions,EC conditions ,DGMS working permissions,CECB permissions,CSPDCL permissions where there is potential violation in past by PA.

KRA5 Commercial
- Availability of underground equipment shall not be less than 80%.
- Availability of power to the underground mines from surface substation shall be minimum 90%, this is including alternative source of power other than planned shut shutdown for periodical maintenance.
