Position: Deputy General Manager – Sales & Marketing Responsible to: Managing Director Annual CTC: 14 lacs to 18 lacs (Fixed) + Variables + Performance Bonus Preferred Industry Experience: Railways A. Overview of the position The Deputy General Manager – Sales & Marketing will be responsible for planning, development and implementation of companies marketing strategies, sales strategies and marketing communications. He/ She will steer the organization’s activities, pertaining to marketing and sales and will be responsible for clients in the Railways and Industrial segments (the primary focus, however, would be in the Railways segment). He/ She shall also be responsible for external and internal marketing communication. He/ She will direct the efforts of the assigned Sales & Marketing teams and coordinate at the strategic and tactical levels, with the other functions of the company. B. Qualification o Primary: Engineering (Mechanical) o Additional (preferred): Masters In Business Administration (with specialization in Marketing) C. Experience and Skills o A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in the marketing, communications or public relations domain, with demonstrated success in the Railways sector. o Proven skills, knowledge and experience in the design and delivery of marketing, communications and public relations activities. o Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills. o Excellent relations with clients and representatives in the Railways segment. o Excellent negotiation skills and proven understanding of commercial terms, such as operation of bank guarantee and letter of credit, customs duty and logistics, etc. o Experience in developing and managing budgets and hiring, training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel. o Demonstrated successful experience in making presentations. o Experience in overseeing the design and delivery of marketing campaigns (including print material and digital marketing). o Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, data base management and other tools. o Commitment to work with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams. o Strong oral and written communications skills. o Ability to handle and effectively manage multiple projects (multi-client, multi segment and multi-location) simultaneously. o Openness to travel, to meet internal and external business demands. Strictly confidential Job Description D. Working Relationship The position reports to the Managing Director and serves as a member of the senior management team. This position participates with the management team in charting the direction for the company, assuring its accountability to all stakeholders and ensuring its effective operations. It also has working relationship with other cross-functional teams. E. Key Responsibilities o Steer the Sales & Marketing function of the company, for its railways and industrial customers (with primary focus on the railways segment) and ensure alignment of Sales & Marketing operations to overall business strategy; o Propose sales and marketing strategies to the MD, for revenue growth (including new segment, sector, customer, product, principal, etc.); o Create, implement and measure the success of companies marketing strategy and manage operational budgets of the Sales & Marketing function (to the extent of assigned work force); o Develop, utilize and maintain marketing material, including website, social media pages, print material and other digital marketing media; o Hire, train and develop the team for the Sales & Marketing function; o Set targets, monitor achievements, appraise performance and mentor assigned team members in the function. Plan effectively and ensure that the annual targets for Revenue and Order Booking (Individual level and Function level) are achieved; o Identify and generate new business opportunities in the Railways as well as Industrial sectors; o Generate recurring business (e.g. annual maintenance), covering companies product portfolio; o Accountable for timely preparation and submission of qualitative responses to enquiries/ bids/ offers for product supply; o Oversee order fulfillment and ensure timeliness of deliverables, in collaboration with the Supply Chain Function; o Maintain quality relationship with the Principals and key customers; o Monitor receivables and ensure timely collection of payments from customers; o Ensure timely generation and submission of Management Reports; o Maintain database of prospects, customers, products and Principals, segregated for Railways and Industries; o Perform market research on a periodic basis and maintain database of competitors and their pricing.
