DevOps Engineer, Trilogy (Remote) - $100,000/year USD

You're a DevOps engineer who builds systems designed to prevent failures before they happen. You'll operate across a portfolio of acquired products—each with unique characteristics—transitioning them into a unified, scalable AWS environment while implementing monitoring and automation that keeps incidents to a minimum.Other companies ask you to manage one stack. We're asking you to merge and refine several stacks without causing disruption. While most teams isolate databases, we take a different approach, strategically consolidating them to maximize cost efficiency and manageability across the portfolio. This position isn't for someone content to watch over existing infrastructure; it's for someone who looks at a disjointed, inconsistent environment and immediately begins architecting improvements.Your scope includes infrastructure migrations, AI-powered automation, performance optimization, database transitions, and cost management. That means identifying and resolving issues, planning and executing cloud migrations with minimal downtime, and using AI/ML-driven workflows to automate significant portions of your workload. What You Will Be Doing

• Planning and executing sophisticated infrastructure transitions, including migrations from legacy platforms to AWS cloud infrastructure and lift-and-shift operations
• Architecting and deploying monitoring frameworks and creating automations for monitoring, software releases, and operational processes
• Conducting system monitoring, system backups, incident management, database migrations, database setup, and cost reduction initiatives

• Keeping legacy systems running forever - you'll have the mandate to implement substantial upgrades

• Operating within restrictive technical boundaries - this position demands both wide-ranging and deep technical knowledge
• Justifying budget requests for essential infrastructure work - we recognize the value of infrastructure investments
  

DevOps Engineer Key Responsibilities

• Enhance reliability and consistency of cloud infrastructure throughout our expanding product portfolio by deploying comprehensive monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.
  

Basic Requirements

• Extensive AWS infrastructure knowledge (this is our core platform - experience with other clouds alone is insufficient)
• Proficiency scripting with Python and Bash for routine administrative tasks
• Proven experience managing and migrating production databases across multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
• Strong Linux systems administration skills

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
