Desktop Support Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Installation and configuration of operating systems on desktops and laptops as per company standards.
• Installation and configuration of Microsoft Office suite.
• Troubleshooting issues related to standard office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Installation, reinstallation, and configuration of in-scope client applications and business software.
• Install and troubleshoot applications such as SAP, AutoCAD, CorelDraw, Adobe Acrobat Writer, and others.
• Diagnose software issues and report hardware problems to vendors; coordinate until resolution.
• Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of printers, scanners, and print queues.
• Set appropriate user permissions for printer access and configure print queues for users and groups.
• Troubleshooting of local network (LAN) and IP-related issues; configure IPs and VLANs as required.
• Configure and troubleshoot email clients.
• Perform user data recovery and backup tasks as needed.
• Install and configure antivirus software and ensure devices are up to date with OS patches.
• Perform virus scans and resolve malware issues using company-provided antivirus tools.
• Raise and follow up on hardware tickets with vendors until closure.
• Handle all assigned support tickets and incidents through to resolution.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience with installation/configuration of OS (Windows/Linux) on desktops and laptops.
• Proficient in MS Office setup and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting tools and procedures for desktops/laptops and office software.
• Experience installing and troubleshooting enterprise applications (e.g., SAP, AutoCAD, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of networking – LAN, IP configuration, VLANs, DHCP.
• Printer and peripheral installation and troubleshooting.
• Antivirus installation and system security practices.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ticketing system knowledge is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate in IT or related field (BCA, B.Sc IT, etc.).
• Industry certifications are a plus.
