Position: Desktop Support Engineer
Location: Chakan, Pune
Department: IT / Technical Support
Reports to: IT Support Manager or Service Desk Manager

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Desktop Support Engineer to provide efficient technical support for end-users within our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for resolving technical issues related to desktop computers, laptops, printers, software applications, and network connectivity. You will work closely with other IT team members to maintain hardware and software systems, ensuring smooth daily operations and high user satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • User Support:

Provide first and second-line support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues. Troubleshoot and resolve problems via phone, email, or in-person, depending on the severity and nature of the issue.

  • Hardware Setup & Maintenance:

Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, and other office hardware.

  • Software Installation & Support:

Install, update, and troubleshoot a wide range of software applications, including operating systems (Windows, macOS), office productivity tools, and business applications.

  • System Configuration & Troubleshooting:

Assist with system configurations, user profiles, and settings adjustments. Troubleshoot issues related to system performance, software conflicts, and device drivers.

  • Network Connectivity:

Ensure seamless network connectivity by resolving Wi-Fi and Ethernet issues, configuring VPN connections, and addressing network access issues.

  • Ticket Management:

Utilize IT service management (ITSM) tools to log, track, and resolve user issues in a timely manner. Ensure issues are escalated appropriately when necessary.

  • User Onboarding & Offboarding:

Set up new users with necessary IT equipment, software, and access to systems. Assist with the removal of access and equipment for departing employees.

  • Documentation & Knowledge Base:

Maintain accurate records of system configurations, software installations, and resolutions. Contribute to knowledge base articles for common issues and solutions.

  • System Updates & Patches:

Ensure desktops and laptops are up to date with the latest software updates, security patches, and antivirus definitions.

  • Security Awareness:

Promote cybersecurity best practices among end-users. Ensure endpoint security software is installed and functioning correctly on all machines.

  • Collaboration:

Work closely with other members of the IT team to resolve complex issues and implement new solutions. Collaborate on projects related to system upgrades and improvements.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education:

A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in IT support.

  • Experience:

6 months to 1 years of experience in desktop support or a similar technical support role.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, macOS, and basic Linux knowledge).
  • Familiarity with hardware troubleshooting (desktops, laptops, printers, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of common productivity software (Microsoft Office, web browsers, etc.).
  • Experience with Active Directory, user account management, and group policies.
  • Basic networking knowledge (IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
  • Experience with remote desktop support tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently.

Certifications (preferred):

  • CompTIA A+
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows 10/11 (or equivalent)
  • ITIL Foundation (or similar IT service management certification)

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, typically Monday to Friday with occasional weekend support during critical issues or upgrades.
  • Ability to work on-site, with occasional remote support as required.
  • Some travel may be required depending on the size and structure of the organization.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fresher

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
