Job Description

A Design Engineer in the fabrication industry develops, models, and tests fabricated products using CAD software, ensuring designs are feasible, cost-effective, and meet client and industry standards. Key responsibilities include creating technical drawings, collaborating with manufacturing and quality control teams, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining design documentation throughout the product lifecycle from concept to production.  Key Responsibilities Design & Development: Create blueprints, models, and detailed technical drawings of new and existing fabricated components and systems using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.  Prototyping & Testing: Develop prototypes and conduct rigorous testing and analysis to evaluate design performance, viability, and adherence to user, environmental, and safety standards.  Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, project management, and clients, to ensure designs meet all requirements and are manufacturable.  Troubleshooting & Improvement: Identify and resolve design-related issues, making necessary revisions to optimize performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.  Documentation: Maintain accurate records of designs, specifications, technical reports, testing data, and project documentation.  Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental considerations.  Budget & Schedule Management: Contribute to the estimation of production costs, timelines, and resource requirements for projects.  Innovation: Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and materials to develop innovative and competitive design solutions.  Required Skills Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks), a strong understanding of fabrication processes, and excellent computational/spatial abilities.  Soft Skills: Problem-solving, creativity, analytical thinking, attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to present technical information to stakeholders.  Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and coordinate with various departments.  Qualifications A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication Engineering, or a related field is typically required.  Previous experience as a Design Engineer or in a similar role, ideally with a background in engineering fabrication, is often preferred
