Job Description

At CRA, we're creating purpose-engineered solutions that power the Energy and Defence sectors. As an integrated engineering powerhouse, we design, engineer, and manufacture everything in-house—giving us unmatched control over quality and innovation. Our solutions are trusted by industry leaders including BrahMos Aerospace, ONGC, OIL, Indian Airforce, and Schlumberger.
We've entered an extraordinary growth phase—tripling in size over the last three years. Today, with 100+ professionals, we're positioned at the intersection of two rapidly expanding sectors.

Role Overview

The Designer is responsible for translating process and conceptual mechanical designs into complete, build-able mechanical and piping drawing packages. This includes 3D modeling, 2D drafting, layout planning, and cross-functional coordination for fabrication readiness. The Designer is expected to be proficient in both piping and mechanical design disciplines and should be able to independently manage components of a project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and manage 3D models of equipment (skids, ducts, enclosures, flares, burners) and piping systems, ensuring layout practicality and spatial coordination
  • Generate 2D manufacturing drawings, including fabrication drawings, detailed part drawings, piping isometrics, and assembly drawings with proper tolerancing and welding information
  • Develop structured BOMs aligned with procurement needs and update them in sync with drawing revisions
  • Translate PFDs and P&IDs into mechanical/piping layouts with clear nozzle orientation, line routing, and support schemes
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes and project specifications (e.g., ASME B31.3, EN 13480, ISO tolerancing)
  • Conduct basic clash checks, fit-up simulations, and interference reviews to ensure constructability
  • Participate in internal design reviews and incorporate feedback from QC, procurement, and production
  • Review associate-level drawings and provide constructive redlines and guidance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Proficient in both 2D and 3D CAD design for mechanical and piping systems
  • Deep understanding of mechanical/piping standards, fabrication methods, and BOM practices
  • Experience with layout optimization, pipe routing, flange and valve selection, and material specs
  • Knowledge of GD&T, weld symbols, pressure design basics, and assembly logic
  • Strong ownership of output accuracy and ability to coordinate across disciplines
  • Comfortable working under schedule constraints and client-driven requirements

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package
  • Generous leave policy
  • Comprehensive group medical insurance
  • Professional development opportunities and a dedicated training budget
  • Regular performance reviews with clear advancement criteria
  • Exposure to industry leaders and cutting-edge projects
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful projects in critical sectors
  • Recognition programs for exceptional contributions
  • Team events and activities to foster a strong company culture
