Design Center Manager

Job Description

Responsible for ensuring the delivery of new designs from the concept stage to the development of prototypes through to finished products ready for manufacture. Drive creative thinking, ensure customer needs are considered and collaborate with the operations team to ensure products are designed for efficient manufacture. Deliver the agreed engineering objectives established in the Annual Operating Plan and considering the organization longer-term strategy road map. Location - Okhla, Delhi Role and Responsibilities Capture the design requirements and the perform development and validation needed to deliver successful systems, products, and components to meet/exceed the customer’s specifications. Create a wide range of concept designs / configurations / models for new systems, products, and components using SOLIDWORKS. Responsible for handling all design activities including concept design, configuration control, Design freeze / release, Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA ), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Design Verification/Product Validation (DV & PV) testing and Computer-aided engineering (CAE) Create initial feasibility studies and conceptualize new designs and design revisions, Create design codes and detailed costed design blueprints Liaise closely with all departments to fully understand design requirements Respond to Requests for Quotation (RFQs) from the Sales and Project Team Present design, costs, changes, and budgetary information effectively to leadership team and customers and provide regular progress updates. Provide support to project team to improve lead times & improve reliability performance to reduce or eliminate warrantable issues in the field. Design in-line with International Defense standards and legislation. Drive forward product development, innovation and ‘think outside the box’ to generate engineering advantage for customers, thinking creatively to develop new/improved solutions Identify and implement design improvements (functionality, cost, design for manufacture) Embrace and champion continuous improvement Education Qualification Must: BE/B. Tech Mechanical from Reputed institute (Top 50 in NIRF) Desirable Exposure to Catia / SOLIDWORKS Software Must : Minimum of 5 - 8 years Design experience Team Player. Analytical Skills. Excellent Communication & Interpersonal Skills. Working Experience in Defence Sector Familiarity with Defence platforms and knowledge of sub-system development of weapons. Show more Show less
