Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled ship design Manager with a background in

Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering, to lead a Design Center and execute ship design

activities for marine vessel projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the

Design Center including overseeing design activities, alignment with the principals and

coordination with shipyards, OEMs and other stakeholders.

This role requires an individual with a solid foundation in ship design and engineering, who can

manage complex tasks while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and

sustainability goals.

Responsibilities:

• Managing design center and team of design engineers.

• Responsible for P&L and efficient operations of design center.

• Identify and support business development initiatives for design

projects.

• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify

trends and opportunities in ship design.

• Research potential clients, market trends, and competitors to

position the design center effectively.

• Coordinate cross-functional efforts for training and design

activities.

• Liaise with shipyards, classification societies (e.g., ABS, DNV,

IRS), and OEMs for technical evaluations, compliance, and

certification.

• Lead technical discussions for ship design-related problemsolving

and decision-making.

• Ensure all systems are designed and integrated in compliance

with regulatory standards and industry best practices.

• Oversee the end-to-end ship design process for each project

phase.

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers

and cross-functional teams.

• Ensure all project timelines, budgets, and milestones are met,

while delivering quality systems that meet client specifications.


Candidate requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in ship design and related business

development, sales.

• Experience in managing complex, cross-functional design

projects

Strong understanding of ship design processes, public and

private shipyards, and government / private shipbuilding

programs.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills

• Strong foundation in Naval architecture/ marine engineering.

• Proficient in design engineering software.

• In-depth understanding of ship design processes & tools.

• Excellent analytical, documentation, and project management

skills.

• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities for multidisciplinary

coordination and stakeholder management.


Preferred qualifications:

• Prior experience in working with shipyards or marine

consultancy organizations.

• Familiarity with classification society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV, IRS)

and maritime safety standards.

• Proven ability to manage complex projects and balancing

technical, financial, and schedule requirements.
