Job Description:– Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)
Department: Supplier Quality / Sourcing / Product Development
Reporting To: Manager – Supplier Quality / Head – SQA
Role Overview:- The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring quality, reliability, and continuous improvement of proprietary and critical supplier parts. The role involves coordination with field teams, plants, and suppliers for issue resolution, supporting new product development, and driving supplier quality improvement initiatives through audits, corrective actions, and capability enhancements.
Key Responsibilities:-
Issue Resolution & Coordination
Coordinate with field, user plants, and internal teams to resolve concerns related to proprietary critical parts.
Troubleshoot proprietary part issues and independently drive corrective actions at supplier end.
Knowledge Sharing & New Product Development
Ensure lessons learned from product families are shared with platform teams (COE, CDMM, etc.) to prevent recurrence of known issues.
Support new product development (NPD) improvements through early involvement in the development process.
Collaborate with CDMM for joint PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) completion.
Supplier Collaboration & Process Improvement
Drive collaboration with suppliers to improve manufacturing processes and deploy best practices, tools, and methodologies.
Monitor supplier performance through audits, performance measurement, and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
Supplier Governance & Capability Building
Develop and implement process norms for supplier management.
Verify supplier-provided products and services for compliance to standards.
Evaluate supplier performance and monitor improvement plans.
Enhance technical capabilities of vendors through systems improvements and knowledge upgrades.
Review, analyze, and implement results of supplier quality audits.
Desired Candidate Profile Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (or related field).
Experience: 4–8 years in Supplier Quality, SQA, or Supplier Development (preferably in Automotive / Manufacturing / Engineering industry).
Knowledge of commodity management, proprietary parts, and supplier processes.
Experience in PPAP, APQP, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, and Quality Tools.
Key Skills & Competencies :-Strong knowledge of supplier quality systems and standards.
Hands-on experience with supplier audits, SCAR management, and corrective actions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
Good communication skills (written and verbal).
Proactive, detail-oriented, and customer-focused mindset.
