Deputy Manager – Quality

Department: Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC)

Job Purpose

To ensure implementation and compliance of quality systems, customer specifications, applicable codes, and statutory requirements across project fabrication activities, ensuring defect-free delivery within timelines and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Management & Compliance

• Implement and maintain QA/QC systems in line with ISO 9001 and project-specific requirements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (ASME, AWS, IS, ASTM, EN, etc.).
• Prepare, review, and implement Quality Plans, ITPs, QAPs, and SOPs for projects.

2. Project Quality Control

• Monitor quality activities during fabrication of pressure vessels, structures, piping, tanks, skids, and equipment.
• Review drawings, specifications, and customer requirements for quality compliance.
• Coordinate with engineering, production, and planning teams to ensure quality adherence.

3. Inspection & Testing

• Oversee incoming material inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection.
• Ensure proper execution and documentation of NDT (RT, UT, PT, MT), dimensional checks, and hydro/pneumatic testing.
• Liaise with third-party inspection agencies and customer inspectors.

4. Welding & Fabrication Quality

• Control welding quality including WPS, PQR, WPQ, welder qualification, and welding consumables.
• Monitor fit-up, welding parameters, heat treatment (PWHT), and surface preparation.

5. Documentation & Records

• Ensure preparation and submission of Manufacturing Record Book (MRB) / Dossier.
• Maintain traceability of materials, heat numbers, test certificates, and calibration records.
• Control quality-related documents and revisions.

6. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions

• Identify, record, and close NCRs and deviations.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
• Support internal and external audits.

7. Customer & Vendor Interface

• Handle customer quality queries, inspections, and quality meetings.
• Evaluate and monitor quality performance of vendors and subcontractors.

8. Team Management & Training

• Guide and supervise QC engineers, inspectors, and technicians.
• Conduct quality awareness and skill training for shop-floor personnel.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding, NDT, and inspection techniques
• Hands-on experience in project quality management
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Good documentation, coordination, and communication skills
• Leadership and problem-solving mindset

Qualifications

• BE / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Metallurgy
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent – preferred
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and project-based quality systems

Experience

• 10–15 years of experience in product fabrication / heavy engineering / EPC industry
• Minimum 3–5 years in a senior QA/QC or Deputy Manager–level role

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹700,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
