Deputy General Manager - Mechanical & Utilities

Purpose/Objective

The ERC Lead - Mechanical is responsible for overseeing the mechanical engineering aspects of material handling systems for mining projects. This includes engineering design, technical specifications, vendor coordination, and value engineering. The role also involves leveraging technology and ensuring seamless interface with other departments to deliver innovative and efficient solutions.

Key Responsibilities of Role

ERC Lead - Mechanical - Mining Engineering Design and Development: Perform concept, basic, and detailed engineering of material handling systems for mine projects. Prepare general arrangement drawings for conveyor profiles and transfer towers. Develop Bill of Quantity (BOQ), presentations, detailed project reports, conveyor schedules, mechanical load lists, design bases, layouts, and process flow diagrams. Technical Specification and Tendering: Prepare technical specifications for all purchased items. Develop EPC tender documents. Engage in vendor discussions and communications for mechanical equipment, conveyor accessories, and new technology updates. Prepare technical evaluation and recommendation sheets for vendor offers. Value Engineering and Innovation: Implement new technologies and modify designs and systems based on value analysis. Ensure the timely and proper interface detailing with other departments. Continuously update the team manager about trends and innovations in the field. Vendor Coordination and Communication: Conduct discussions with vendors regarding mechanical equipment and conveyor accessories. Stay updated on new technologies in mining and material handling systems (MHS). Ensure effective communication with vendors to align project requirements and technological advancements. Technology and IT Enablement: Utilize MS Office, AutoCAD, and conveyor calculation software such as Beltstat or Sidewinder. Stay familiar with new technologies in mining and material handling systems to enhance project efficiency and innovation. Team Coordination and Reporting: Ensure timely and proper interface detailing with other departments. Continuously update the team manager about trends, innovations, and project progress. Facilitate smooth coordination between different teams to ensure project success.
