Over 7000 employees contribute every day to achieve our vision and purpose, and live our values (Respect, Integrity, Pursuit of Excellence, Leadership and Meritocracy) Purpose of the job The Decarbonization Manager will be part of the Group Sustainability team, and be responsible for leading ETG’s strategy to reduce the carbon footprint of warehouses and factories (GHG scope 1 and 2) in line with the SBTi trajectory. The majority of the warehouses and factories are based in Sub-Sahara Africa, with some operations in Southeast Asia and Canada. The candidate will be located in Zambia, Kenya or South Africa, and travel to collaborate with factory teams in the various countries to work-out business cases to reduce energy, identify alternative energy options (eg solar), optimize waste streams, and measure and report the cost and GHG impact of interventions after implementation. Where needed, consultancy services will be contracted and supervised by the candidate. S/he will work closely with other members of the Group Sustainability team and other business functions, including Finance & Treasury and commodity trade departments. Key areas of responsibility Optimize ETG’s monitoring and reporting on carbon Scope 1&2 footprint of warehouses and factories. Identify key solutions to reduce ETG’s carbon footprint in a cost-efficient manner and turn these into a decarbonization roadmap that is in line with SBTi targets. Report on the progress of implementation of factory and warehouses projects in close collaboration with the factory teams. Coordinate relationships with external technical experts for optimizing project outcomes. Extensive understanding of electricity, renewable energy, waste management, and/or heat efficiencies solutions. Strong communication skills to ensure a smooth collaboration with various factory and (senior) management teams.
