Role overview
We are seeking a skilled Engineer to manage, deploy, and support database infrastructure
across cloud and on-premises environments. The role requires expertise in database
administration, implementation, performance tuning, and cloud infrastructure management.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in SQL, NoSQL databases, Linux system
administration, and cloud native Database services (AWS / GCP / Azure).
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and manage SQL, NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB,
MS SQL, MongoDB Atlas etc) cloud environments like GCP, AWS.
- Support Database modernization and migration of on-prem workloads to cloud or
hybrid platforms.
- Champion modern database technologies like AlloyDB, Spanner, Firestore, Bigtable,
Aurora, Cosmos DB, Vector DB, and AI-powered platforms.
- Support production database environment availability, stability, performance, and
security.
- Support database migrations, version upgrades, and patching activities.
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity
and business continuity.
- Tune SQL queries, indexes, and schema to support low-latency workloads at scale.
Work with public cloud OEM engineers to optimize data models, migrations, and query
patterns.
- Document procedures, create technical runbooks, and contribute to continuous
improvement initiatives
- Participate in incident response and on-call rotations, responding promptly to alerts
and handling major incidents.
- Collaborate with cloud engineers and DevOps teams to automate deployment and
monitoring using tools like Terraform, Jenkins, or Ansible.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in database administration and implementation.
Certifications in Professional Cloud Database Engineer or Azure Database
Administrator Associate or AWS Database Specialty
- Advanced SQL programming skills and hands-on experience with query optimization
& index tuning.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash from a Database perspective.
- Experience managing databases in public cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure).
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills; ability to deep dive into performance
issues.
- Knowledge of database replication, clustering, failover, and backup mechanisms.
- Experience with caching systems (Redis, ElastiCache).
- Experience migrating production databases from on-premises to cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of security best practices, access controls, firewalls, encryption,
and disaster recovery plans.
- Basic understanding of fundamental networking concepts such as virtual networks, IP
addressing, and subnetting
- Excellent customer facing communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform) for Database
- Exposure to data warehousing (BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse Analytics)
- Experience in Data ETL/ELT pipeline implementation
- Familiar with containerized database deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of industry-specific compliance standards to ensure data privacy and
security.
