Why this role is unique

• You’ll be the first data scientist at Palmonas, setting up the vision, frameworks, and culture for data science.

  - Work across demand forecasting, pricing optimization, channel economics, personalization, fraud detection, inventory optimization, and customer experience.

  - Build and lead the data science team as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Strategy & Infrastructure

• Partner with Founders & leadership to define the company-wide data roadmap.
• Set up the foundations for data pipelines, warehousing, and analytics in collaboration with engineering.

• Advanced Analytics & Modeling

• Build models for

  inventory optimization, demand forecasting, pricing, personalization, and recommendation engines

  .
• Create customer lifetime value (CLV) models, cohort analytics, and churn prediction frameworks.

• Decision Intelligence

• Translate business problems (supply chain, marketing, product, retail) into data models.
• Provide actionable insights to leadership for strategic planning (channel mix, expansion, contribution margin improvement).

• Experimentation & Causality

• Design A/B testing and causal inference frameworks to evaluate product, marketing, and pricing decisions.

• Leadership & Team Building

• Hire, mentor, and lead the future data science and analytics team.
• Build cross-functional processes to embed data into every decision.

What We’re Looking For

• Education:

  Strong academic background in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.

• Experience:

  5–8+ years of applied data science in high-growth environments (e.g., consumer internet, e-commerce, fintech, retail).

• Technical Skills:

• Expertise in Python/R, SQL, ML libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, optimization, time-series forecasting, and recommender systems.
• Familiarity with modern data stack a plus.

• Business Acumen:

  Proven track record of translating business problems into scalable data solutions. Exposure to

  retail, inventory, or consumer commerce

  domains is a big plus.

• Leadership:

  Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and build/lead teams from scratch.

• Mindset:

  Entrepreneurial, and impact-driven – excited by the challenge of building India’s first data-first jewelry brand.
