Data Consultant- Government
to join the Foundations Advisory—a versatile, hands-on role for someone who is passionate about using data for public good. You will lead analysis and insight generation from large-scale secondary datasets, create compelling visual narratives, and contribute to the evolution of our AI strategy to enhance the consumability of data products.You will work across diverse internal and external contexts—content creation, product development, platform analytics, partner support, and strategic projects. Data Consultant- Government
I, you will be at the center of one of India’s most credible data-for-impact platforms. This role offers:

Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis & Insight Generation
- Lead end-to-end analysis of secondary data: sourcing, cleaning, exploring, and interpreting large public datasets (e.g., NFHS, PLFS, UDISE+, Census).
- Design and deliver high-quality insights and visuals that drive decision-making across philanthropy, CSR, and nonprofit teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure analytical outputs are grounded in the development context and relevant to end-users.
- Data Visualization & Storytelling
- Develop visual dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Craft compelling data stories for platform, social media, and long-form content, translating technical analysis into intuitive narratives for a range of audiences.
- Preferred but not essential: Candidates with a flair for data journalism or content writing on development topics will be valued.
- Cross-Context Engagement
- Provide data support across internal initiatives like product development, thematic projects, stakeholder engagements, or platform content.
- Serve as an agile team member who can support and collaborate with existing team leads as needed.
- AI and Innovation Strategy
- Play an active role in shaping and executing our AI strategy—especially in using AI to enhance data summarization, visual explanation, and data discovery.
- Explore emerging use cases for AI in development data storytelling, visual design, or decision-support tools.
- Platform & Data Infrastructure
- Maintain a structured, version-controlled repository of cleaned and reusable datasets.
- Contribute to building scalable data workflows; support platform usage analytics and internal knowledge dashboards.
- Collaborate with the tech team on improving data architecture and usability.
Core Skills (Essential)
- 4–6 years of experience in data analysis and visualisation, ideally within the development, public policy, or impact consulting ecosystem.
- Deep familiarity with the social development data landscape in India -- understanding of sector-specific indicators, trends, and data quality nuances.
- Strong proficiency in:
- Excel (Advanced)
- Tableau or Power BI (Mandatory)
- Ability to convert data into clear, compelling insights and visual outputs.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical rigor, and user-centric thinking.
Preferred Skills (Good To Have)
- Exposure to government datasets like NFHS, Census, NSSO, UDISE+ (can be learned on the job).
- Familiarity with SQL, R/Python, PowerQuery or basic automation tools (for scraping, wrangling).
- Experience in AI tools for data analysis or storytelling, even at a conceptual or early experimentation level.
- Writing or editorial experience, especially in data storytelling or journalism, is a strong advantage.
