Role Overview

Credit Manager (Underwriting)

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate MSME loan applications, financials, bureau reports, and alternate data sources.
• Ensure underwriting practices comply with RBI/NBFC regulations and internal credit policies.
• Refine MSME lending products aligned with market needs, risk appetite, and regulations.
• Collaborate with collections teams to design effective recovery strategies.
• Develop and enhance credit policies, scorecards, and risk assessment frameworks.
• Monitor portfolio performance, identify early warning signals, and suggest corrective actions.
• Leverage technology, AI/ML, and analytics for smarter credit decisioning.
• Stay updated on MSME sector trends, lending practices, and credit ecosystem developments.
• Collaborate with sales, operations, and compliance for smooth loan processing and minimal delinquencies.
• Mentor and guide junior credit staff to ensure quality and consistency in underwriting.

Candidate Profile

• Postgraduate degree in Finance, Business, or Economics (CA/CFA/MBA preferred).
• 3–5 years’ experience in credit underwriting (NBFCs, banks, or lending institutions).
• Strong knowledge of MSME credit products, secured/unsecured lending, and assessment tools.
• Familiarity with RBI regulations on lending, provisioning, and asset classification.
• Understanding of digital credit tools, analytics, and fintech practices.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and risk management skills.
• High integrity, resilience, and ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
