Job Description – Community Mobilizer

Key Responsibilities

1. Community Mobilization & Group Formation

  • Facilitate the formation and strengthening of youth and adolescent groups (ages 11–25) in Gram Panchayats.
  • Conduct regular sessions and dialogues with adolescents, 19+ youth, parents, and community members on gender equality, rights, entitlements, and prevention of gender-based violence.
  • Support youth in designing and implementing social action projects on issues such as education, early marriage, menstrual hygiene, and local governance.

2. Community Engagement & Awareness

  • Organize community meetings, parent engagement sessions, and intergenerational dialogues to build supportive environments for adolescents and youth.
  • Use games, art, theatre, and local cultural tools to encourage responsible citizenship and challenge harmful norms.
  • Facilitate thematic campaigns around key days (Women’s Day, Youth Day, Constitution Day, etc.).

3. Leadership

  • Mentor identified youth leaders in governance, advocacy, and community leadership.
  • Facilitate exposure visits, leadership workshops, and training sessions for youth leaders.
  • Support Gram Panchayat and block-level connection to strengthen youth participation in processes such as GPDP and PRA.

4. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and timely monitoring formats, MIS entries, and tracking forms.
  • Prepare regular reports with photos, case studies, and progress updates.
  • Document youth-led campaigns, workshops, and community action projects.

5. Team & Resource Management

  • Work in close coordination with the Project Coordinator, Community Mobilizers, and other team members.
  • Manage and track stock of IEC materials and campaign merchandise.
  • Participate actively in review meetings, planning sessions, and team capacity-building workshops.

6. Other Responsibilities

  • Remain open to learning and adapting as per community and organizational needs.
  • Ability to work in an informal, community-based atmosphere while maintaining professionalism.
  • Willingness to work with flexible hours, including evenings/weekends.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Sociology, Gender Studies, or related field (Master’s preferred but not mandatory with relevant experience).
  • Experience:
  • 1–3 years of experience in community mobilization, youth engagement, or grassroots development work.
  • Prior experience of working with adolescents, youth groups, or women’s collectives is desirable.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills (local dialect/language proficiency is essential).
  • Ability to build rapport with community members, frontline workers (ASHA, AWW, ANM), and PRI representatives.
  • Good report writing, documentation, and basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Google forms).
  • Capacity to mentor and motivate youth leaders and manage group dynamics.
  • Confidence to represent the organization in Gram Panchayat and block-level advocacy platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, with problem-solving orientation.
