Bharti Institute of Public Policy (BIPP), Indian School of Business (ISB), in collaboration with the District Administration, West Singhbhum, is implementing a strategic initiative to foster a sustainable and inclusive forest-based economy in the district. The initiative focuses on building women-led community enterprises, strengthening forest-based value chains, and creating direct market access for forest produce, while ensuring ecological sustainability and community ownership.
The Community Enterprise Specialist will play a pivotal role in driving this initiative on the ground in Chaibasa. S/he will be responsible for mobilizing and supporting women-led Producer Companies, facilitating market linkages, supporting technology-based solutions such as forest inventory and mechanization, and strengthening governance models for sustainable forest management. The role will require close coordination with government stakeholders, community institutions, and private sector actors to ensure effective implementation, capacity building, and long-term viability of women-led community enterprises in West Singhbhum.
S/he will lead the on-ground execution of the collaborative initiative between Bharti Institute of Public Policy (ISB) and the District Administration, West Singhbhum, towards building a sustainable and inclusive forest-based economy. The role will focus on establishing and nurturing women-led Producer Companies as vehicles for collective enterprise, value addition, and market engagement in forest-based value chains.
The Community Enterprise Specialist will be responsible for enterprise promotion, governance strengthening, and business development while ensuring market integration, financial access, and sustainability of community-owned institutions. S/he will work closely with community members, government stakeholders, and private sector actors to design and implement interventions that enhance livelihoods, empower women leaders, and align livelihood generation with ecological sustainability.
Master’s degree in Rural Management, Business Administration, Agribusiness, Social Entrepreneurship, or related field.
5 years and above
Identify potential clusters, mobilize women from forest-dependent communities, and facilitate the incorporation of women-led Producer Companies, and ensure legal, financial and regulatory compliances - 30%
Design and implement business development strategies aligned with local resource strengths and market demand; facilitate access to finance, working capital, enterprise development tools/technologies - 20%
Coordinate and support capacity building on enterprise management, financial literacy, leadership, governance, and compliance - 20%
Monitor enterprise performance, ensure systematic data collection/analysis, and generate periodic progress reports with actionable insights - 15%
Facilitate coordination with the District Administration, line departments, and project stakeholders for convergence and smooth implementation of project activities - 15%
