The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive data compliance policies and programs that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. This role involves ensuring adherence to laws governing data privacy and security, leading initiatives to protect sensitive data, and fostering a culture of ethical and compliant data handling across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Policy Development Implementation
1. Develop and implement data compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines in alignment with applicable laws, such as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP) 2023, GDPR, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate compliance measures into organizational processes and operations.

Audits Risk Assessments
1. Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate data privacy and security risks.
2. Establish and monitor controls to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.

Monitoring Enforcement
1. Oversee data handling practices across the organization to ensure compliance with established standards.
2. Investigate and resolve compliance incidents or breaches, ensuring timely corrective actions.

Collaboration Advisory
1. Work closely with IT, legal, and security teams to establish robust data protection measures.
2. Act as a subject matter expert and advisor on data compliance matters, providing strategic insights to senior leadership.

Employee Training Awareness
1. Design and deliver training programs to educate employees on data compliance policies, regulations, and best practices.
2. Promote a culture of ethical data handling and privacy awareness.

Regulatory Liaison
1. Serve as the nodal officer for data-related activities, liaising with regulatory authorities and external auditors to address inquiries and ensure compliance.
2. Stay updated on evolving data privacy laws, regulations, and industry trends.

Documentation Governance
1. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to compliance policies, procedures, and records.
2. Participate in the design and implementation of data governance frameworks and management strategies.

Required Skills Qualifications

Educational Background:
1. Bachelor s degree in law, compliance, IT, or a related field.
2. Advanced degree or legal qualifications (e.g., LLB, LLM) are highly desirable.

Experience:
1. Minimum of 10 years in compliance, data privacy, or a related field, with experience handling sensitive data and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
2. Experience with industry certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CISSP, or ISO 27001 is a significant advantage.

Technical Knowledge:
1. Strong understanding of data protection regulations, including DPDP Act 2023, GDPR, HIPAA, and related standards.
2. Familiarity with IT systems, security measures, and data governance frameworks.

Key Skills:
1. Expertise in conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with cross-functional teams and regulatory bodies.
3. Analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to compliance management.
