Business Development Manager (Travel & MICE) – Job Description
Role Overview:
The BDM – Travel & MICE is responsible for driving business growth by acquiring corporate clients, expanding MICE business, building strategic partnerships, and delivering tailored travel & event solutions. The role combines corporate travel sales, MICE project development, negotiation, and relationship management.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Lead Generation
Identify and develop new business opportunities across corporate travel, MICE, B2B partners, and event management companies.
Generate leads through networking, corporate reach-outs, trade shows, exhibitions, and digital channels.
Create and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
2. MICE Sales & Coordination
Pitch and secure MICE projects (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions/events).
Work with clients to understand event requirements, budgets, destinations, and timelines.
Coordinate with DMCs, hotels, convention centers, and travel suppliers for MICE proposals.
Prepare detailed itineraries, proposals, and costing for MICE groups.
Oversee smooth execution of MICE events in coordination with operations.
3. Corporate Travel Sales
Acquire new corporate accounts and maintain relationships with key decision-makers.
Present travel solutions, packages, and corporate travel programs.
Negotiate corporate rates with hotels, airlines, and service providers.
4. Negotiation & Contracting
Negotiate commercial terms, group rates, FIT/MICE deals, airline fares, and hotel contracts.
Finalize agreements, proposals, and service-level commitments.
5. Client Relationship Management
Build strong long-term relationships with corporate clients and MICE planners.
Conduct regular review meetings and identify upsell/cross-sell opportunities.
Handle escalations and ensure high service satisfaction for travel & MICE clients.
6. Market Research & Strategy
Track travel trends, MICE industry updates, competitor pricing, and destination insights.
Provide recommendations for new products, packages, and event solutions.
7. Coordination & Internal Collaboration
Work closely with operations, ticketing, visa, accounts, and event management teams.
Ensure timely delivery of proposals, documentation, and travel arrangements.
8. Reporting & Targets
Achieve monthly/quarterly sales and revenue targets.
Maintain sales pipelines, submit reports, forecasts, and business plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Tourism, Event Management, or related field.
3–7 years of experience in corporate travel sales/MICE sales.
Strong knowledge of travel destinations, hotels, DMC networks, and MICE operations.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Ability to multitask and manage large group movements & events.
Proficiency in CRM tools, MS PowerPoint, and proposal writing.
