Position Overview
The BD Manager – Proposal Engineering will be responsible for driving business development activities, preparing technical-commercial proposals, for Material Handling Systems. The role requires strong engineering knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to convert client inquiries into winning proposals through proper coordination with design, estimation, and procurement teams.
Key Responsibilities
A. Business Development & Client Engagement
· Identify potential clients in industries such as steel, cement, mining, power, ports, and manufacturing.
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with project, procurement, and engineering teams of clients.
· Conduct client visits, and discussions to promote company capabilities.
· Gather customer requirements and convert them into clear technical inputs for proposal preparation.
B. Proposal & Tender Engineering
· Review and understand tender documents, BOQs, technical specifications, and drawings related to Material Handling Systems.
· Coordinate with internal design/engineering teams to prepare accurate technical proposals.
· Prepare costing sheets, budgetary offers, and detailed techno-commercial proposals.
· Ensure compliance with customer requirements—technical, commercial, contractual, and statutory.
C. Estimation & Costing
· Prepare preliminary engineering layouts and equipment sizing for conveyors, crushers, feeders, screens, and bulk handling systems.
· Obtain quotations from vendors/subcontractors and evaluate technical compatibility.
· Prepare final cost estimation including equipment cost, fabrication, erection, and commissioning.
D. Tender Management & Documentation
· Coordinate complete tender lifecycle—query handling, pre-bid meetings, clarifications, bid submission, and post-bid updates.
· Prepare bid summaries, deviation lists, risk analysis, and internal approval documents.
· Maintain updated records of proposals, tender status, and customer communication.
E. Marketing Support & Order Finalization
· Support BD/Marketing team during techno-commercial negotiations and meetings.
· Provide technical clarifications to clients and ensure complete alignment before order booking.
· Hand over awarded projects to the Project/Execution team with all necessary documentation.
F. Market Intelligence & Strategy
· Track competitor pricing, product offerings, market trends, and industry movements.
· Provide inputs to management on pricing strategy, product positioning, and new business opportunities.
· Develop strategies to improve proposal quality, costing accuracy, and tender win ratio.
3. Required Qualifications & Experience
· B.Tech / BE in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or related stream.
· 10–15 years of experience in Proposal Engineering / Estimation / BD for Material Handling Systems.
· Experience in EPC/industrial projects involving conveyors, crushers, hoppers, feeders, belt systems, stacking/reclaiming systems, or bulk material handling.
· Strong understanding of tendering processes and techno-commercial documentation.
4. Key Skills & Competencies
· Strong technical knowledge of Material Handling Equipment.
· Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and preparing basic layouts.
· Good understanding of commercial terms, taxes, and contract conditions.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
· Ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams (Design, Procurement, Projects).
· Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
· Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD (basic), and costing tools.
5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Number of proposals submitted vs. target.
· Tender win ratio / conversion rate.
· Accuracy of costing and proposal quality.
· Timeliness of bid submissions.
· Customer satisfaction and relationship strength.
· Market reach and new client acquisition support.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹75,000.00 - ₹85,000.00 per month
