Position Summary

ATRI is seeking a talented Level 2 Battery Electronics Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and testing advanced Battery Management Systems (BMS), power electronics, and energy storage solutions for automotive and stationary applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in battery electronics, combined with a passion for sustainable technology innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

  • Design and develop BMS for lithium-ion, LFP, and next-generation battery chemistries.
  • Create circuit schematics, PCB layouts, and system architectures.
  • Develop battery monitoring, protection, and balancing circuits.
  • Design power conversion systems (DC-DC converters, inverters, chargers).
  • Implement thermal management solutions for battery systems.

Testing & Validation

  • Conduct performance, safety, and reliability testing of battery systems.
  • Perform EMC/EMI testing and ensure compliance with automotive standards.
  • Execute environmental testing (temperature, vibration, humidity).
  • Develop and execute test protocols for battery pack validation.
  • Analyze test data and prepare detailed technical reports.

System Integration

  • Integrate battery systems with vehicle electrical architectures and communication networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers on pack design and thermal solutions.
  • Support integration with electric powertrain components and charging infrastructure.

Technical Documentation

  • Prepare technical specifications, design documents, and test procedures.
  • Maintain system documentation including manuals and service guides.
  • Generate reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical presentations.

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure designs meet safety standards (ISO 26262, UN ECE R100, IEC 62133, UL 2580).
  • Implement functional safety requirements in designs.
  • Support certification processes for automotive/energy storage applications.
  • Stay updated with evolving regulations and industry standards.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in Power Electronics, Battery Technology, or related specialization (preferred).

Experience

  • 3–6 years of experience in battery electronics, power systems, or automotive electronics.
  • Proven expertise in BMS design and development.
  • Hands-on experience with battery testing, validation, and vehicle integration.

Technical Skills

  • Circuit Design: Analog, digital, and power electronics.
  • PCB Design: Altium Designer, KiCad, or equivalent.
  • Microcontrollers: ARM Cortex, PIC, or similar.
  • Protocols: CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, UART, automotive Ethernet.
  • Simulation Tools: SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Programming: C/C++, Python, embedded development.
  • Testing Tools: Oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, battery testers, environmental chambers.

Domain Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of battery chemistry, safety systems, and failure modes.
  • Familiarity with EV architectures, charging systems, and functional safety.
  • Knowledge of thermal management systems for batteries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fast-charging and high-power applications.
  • Knowledge of battery recycling/second-life applications.
  • Experience with EMS, grid integration, and wireless BMS.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML in battery management.
  • Knowledge of solid-state battery technologies.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading small teams.
  • Publications in relevant technical journals or conferences.

Technical Competencies

  • CAD Tools: SolidWorks, AutoCAD.
  • Simulation Tools: ANSYS, COMSOL (thermal/electromagnetic analysis).
  • Version Control: Git, SVN.
  • Project Management: JIRA, MS Project.
  • Documentation: Strong technical writing & presentation skills.

Industry Knowledge

  • Current trends in EV and battery technology.
  • Understanding of Indian automotive regulations & incentive schemes.
  • Knowledge of global battery supply chains & sustainability principles.
