Backend Engineering Devops lead

Responsible

• Drive zero-downtime deployments, rollouts, and real-time monitoring for FLOW's APIs and backend services
• Own platform infrastructure on AWS with a focus on auto-scaling, cost optimization and global redundancy
• Implement and continuously improve observability using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, NewRelic, or equivalent
• Ensure tight integration and delivery readiness of data science models, EDD APIs, and control tower modules across environments

Accountable

• Deliver a high-availability SaaS platform with >99.9% uptime and minimal tech debt
• Ensure engineering team adheres to quality gates, peer review, and regression protocols
• Be the first line of accountability in case of outages, security breaches, or SLA misses from platform side
• Take charge of building pipeline with reliability and releases aligned with business priorities

Consulted

• Work with Data Science teams to deploy and monitor predictive models for EDD and courier scoring
• Partner with Product Managers to evaluate feasibility, engineering effort, and deployment readiness
• Guide Client Solutions and Customer Success teams on platform capabilities, custom integrations and SLA guarantees

Informed

• Stay updated on global data privacy laws (GDPR, DPDP) and ensure compliance frameworks are implemented
• Be in loop for business continuity planning, DR drills, and major releases
• Follow AI/ML trends (e.g., agentic orchestration, probabilistic delivery workflows) that could shape upcoming releases

Key CompetenciesKnowledgeEssential

• 7+ years of backend/platform engineering experience, with 4+ years in leadership roles
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture, cloud infra (preferably AWS), and real-time data pipelines
• Proven record of handling production deployments, incident resolution, and performance bottlenecks
• Familiarity with AI/ML lifecycle deployment, especially around delivery estimations and recommender systems

Desirable

• Exposure to logistics tech, e-commerce platforms, or last-mile orchestration systems
• Experience working with data versioning, embedding stores (e.g., Pinecone, Redis), and vectorized APIs

SkillsEssential

• Expert in Node.js, Python, or Go, with strong DevOps chops
• Strong in Docker, Kubernetes, GitOps, and setting up CI/CD from scratch
• Ability to debug and harden systems across infra, code, and network levels
• Team leadership across in-house, remote, and vendor-based resources

Desirable

• Exposure to RLHF, RL4LM, or event-driven architecture using Kafka/Kinesis
• Hands-on with security best practices, access control, and resilience testing

• Experience in scaling and security practices related to DevOps
